Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Banko Chelchele- Medium Roast 340g
340g/12oz Roasted Coffee
A stellar heirloom bean from Ethiopia’s Gedeo Zone in the Gedeb woreda (district). With elevations ranging between 1,700 and 2,200 m above sea level and an average temperature of 15.5°C and 17.8°C, Yirgacheffe produces some exceptionally bright and floral coffee
The Chelchele washing station is a hub for more than 300 independent coffee growers in the area, resulting in what is often referred to as “garden coffee” as most of it is grown in yards and small gardens. Hand-picked coffee cherries are gathered here to be washed, fermented and sun-dried on raised beds
Because of this communal “garden coffee” style of farming, most Ethiopian coffees are not able to be traced to a single variety and are instead made up of a wide range of native heirloom beans that have been cultivated both intentionally and as a result of natural selection over centuries
Ethiopia produces some of the most unique sought-after crops in the world. Agriculture makes up 41% of its' GDP with coffee making up the largest portion at 28% handily beating out any other country in Africa.
These beans make a delicious light or medium-roast with distinctive floral notes. vibrant and intensely aromatic with fruity and subtle earthy flavours.
